These common items that school teachers see every day can remind us to connect with God in prayer...

Eraser: Help me forgive others as You forgive me.

God, help me remember that You have forgiven me and erased my sins. Please help me forgive others in the same way. Wipe away anger, bitterness, and hate from my heart so that I will not harbor resentment toward anyone. Fill me with kindness and compassion for others. (Ephesians 4: 26-27; 31-32)

Pencil: Help me remember that You are writing a new, redemptive story for me.

God, help me recognize Your work in my life rather than dwelling on my past. Please remind me that You don’t focus on all of my mistakes but, instead, You are writing a new, redemptive story for me every day of my life. (Isaiah 43: 18-19)

Crayons: Help me recognize that I am a work of art You designed for a purpose.

God, help me celebrate and implement the amazing gifts and talents You have placed within me, Your wonderful masterpiece. Please let me clearly hear Your calling so that I can accomplish the good works that You have equipped me to do and prepared in advance for me. (Ephesians 2:10)

Highlighter: Help me encourage and affirm others.

God, help me support and build others up. Please cause me to recognize when others feel discouraged and inspire me to reassure and encourage them. Help me celebrate the victories and triumphs of others so that I might strengthen and embolden them in their journeys. (1 Thessalonians 5:11)

Scissors: Help me cut sin out of my life.

God, help me remember to cut ties with my sin and unrighteousness. Please release me from any unhealthy patterns of thinking and speaking. Replace these patterns with Your truth, righteousness, and holiness as I move away from who I was and become more like You. (Ephesians 4:22-29)

Glue: Help me bring unity through love.

God, help me love like You. Please clothe me with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, patience, and forgiveness. Use these virtues held together with love to bring unity among my students, fellow staff members, family, church, and community. (Colossians 3:12-14)
