I am not pleased with how my local union represents me. And, I recently discovered that my state and national unions invest my dues in organizations that support ideologies that violate my biblical worldview.
One of my peers (who is a member) suggested I check out Christian Educators. Since your staff isn’t on my school campus, how would you support me as a Christian Educators Member with Coverage if I need help?Christian Educators has a clear process in place that quickly connects you with support:We believe that Christian Educators’ support system (which includes $2,000,000 in professional liability beyond your school district’s liability coverage) is even better than what unions provide. Most importantly, our Christian staff, empowered by the Holy Spirit, will never ask you to violate your sincerely held religious convictions.
- Initial Call: As soon as an issue arises (or you have questions about something happening at work), you can call us at (888) 798-1124. Our office staff will gather your information, send it to one of our Educational Consultants, and offer to pray with you.
- Consultant Connection: One of our Educational Consultants (all with diverse backgrounds in the field of education, having served as former public school teachers, principals, and superintendents) will get back to you by the next day at the latest. During this call, he or she will advise you on the best course of action to handle your situation.
- Meetings: If you would like to have someone in a meeting with you on your campus, we may advise you to bring a trusted colleague (not as representation but as an extra set of eyes and ears). Many of our members bring their school’s union reps (if they trust them). Even though our members often are not union members, their unions retain some responsibility to represent nonmembers because of the union’s exclusive right to negotiate contracts for members and nonmembers alike.
- Insurance Claims: If the matter remains unresolved and you are subject to a job action (like suspension, administrative leave, or termination), your job protection benefits will be engaged. Our Director of Legal Services will partner with you to find a local attorney to represent you. Initially, the attorney will consult with you and then (if necessary) meet with you in person at district, state, or federal hearings.
